what does mold smell like
By Noah Lauzier 29 Dec, 2023
Mold typically emits a musty, stale odor that is often likened to the smell of wet socks or rotting wood. This distinctive scent is a byproduct of mold metabolism, releasing various microbial volatile organic compounds (mVOCs) into the air as it grows. These mVOCs can vary, producing a range of smells from damp and earthy to pungent and sour. The intensity and character of the mold smell can depend on the type of mold, the level of infestation, and where it's growing. For instance, black mold is notorious for a stronger, more noxious smell, akin to the earthiness of decaying leaves. If you notice a persistent odor that lingers despite cleaning, especially in areas that have been exposed to moisture, it may be an indication of mold presence.

No one likes being lied to, deceived, or especially, being taken advantage of. Unfortunately, there are companies out there that predicate on folks in this industry. They will outright scam you. First, they start off by introducing themselves, making you feel good about them/their company, and then once they earn your trust, they use every trick in the salesman's book to make you pay thousands more than you need to. How do I know this? Because, 1) I'm in the industry...and 2) I've been in sales my entire adult life.

When Is It Time To Call In The Experts For Mold Remediation?
By Noah Lauzier 06 Nov, 2023
Unfortunately, this is a question often asked but rarely answered correctly. The truth is, any time there is a visible mold issue in the home, it's time to call in an expert. This doesn't always mean that you need a full remediation on the property. This means bringing in an Indoor Environmental Professional. (IEP). The First step we always take with clients is recommending they have a certified mold testing professional come in to complete a test. They will typically take at least 3 air samples, and swab the actual mold. One air test is inside the affected area, one right outside the affected area(s), and then one "control" test, outside of the home. This will tell you the type of mold present inside of the home, and let the remediation professionals understand exactly what it is they're working with.
